How do I make a donation to a participating charity?

You can make a donation directly from this site by following the link to the charity's donation page by first clicking on The Charities. You can also make a donation on the charity's website where you see the Click to Donate button or link.

What form of payments do you accept?

We accept the four major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Debit cards will work only if they have the Visa or MasterCard logo on the card. The security number on the back of the credit card is required for all credit card donations.

Do you accept electronic checks?

Not at this time.

I wanted to make a $100 donation but my receipt says that it processed $1.00. What happened?

Since some of our charities use the form to take payments that are not rounded numbers, we have chosen to allow the total dollar amount to be input by the donor. In your case, you typed "100" without the decimal and cents and the system recognized it as one dollar. You should have typed "100.00" (both dollars and cents) to make a hundred dollar donation. To correct this, please go back to the charity's donation page and resubmit your donation with the correct dollar amount. Please be aware that due to the cost of processing we do not refund the mistaken donation. It is, however, given to the charity as a donation. If the exact amount is important to you, make your second donation equal to the difference.

I changed my mind. I want to reverse my donation. How can I do this?

First, please do not do a chargeback. They are costly to us and hurt the program. Instead, contact us immediately and we will manually refund the donation minus any processing fees. Please be aware that merchant banks charge a processing fee in both directions of a transaction. We are a nonprofit and have no underwriters so we must charge you for those fees.

I want to make an automatic donation to a charity every month. How do I do that?

On the donation form, fill out the section regarding recurring payments. You can set the frequency and amount when you make your initial payment. Your credit card will be charged according to that schedule. You will receive a receipt each time it is processed.

What appears on my credit card statement?

Depending on the plan that your charity is using, your statement will display "STAR DONOR" or the charity's website domain, and our toll-free telephone number. Please give us a call if you have any questions about the transaction.

Will I receive any advertising or be placed on a mailing list as a result of using this program?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not by us. We operate in the background and as long as your donation processed fine you will never hear from us. However, your charity will likely put you on their personal mailing list to keep you updated on what they are doing. If you don't want to be on their mailing list, you can state that in the comments section of the donation form.
